Last Post of 2017!

It is hard to believe that we are about to leave for our Christmas break. Before we do so, we wanted to share some photos and experiences we have had since the last post. Yesterday was Camp Read-A-Lot which is always filled with lots of fun and excitement, pajamas, and of course, TONS of reading!! We also squeezed in time for Read Aloud, Writing and our regularly scheduled specials. We have included some photos of it below.

Cisco showed up in his PJs too!

Writer's Workshop/Storypath: The children have just finished writing some very powerful letters about the importance of saving the rain forests. It was impressive to see that the children were so energized to do something to save the rain forests they had come to know and love. These letters will be mailed this week to the President of Brazil, the U.S. Ambassador to Brazil, a cattle ranching company, Senator Richard Burr and President Trump. We look forward to seeing who writes back to us.

We also wanted to spread the good news that Jack Totten will join our class when we return in January. Jack and his family are moving to Charlotte from Manhattan Beach, CA. The students cheered with excitement when they heard that Jack was joining our class. They came up with the idea of writing letters to Jack welcoming him to Charlotte and to our classroom. These letters were beautifully written and we know they will mean so much to Jack and to his family as they make this big transition. Jack's sister, Maeve, will be joining kindergarten in January as well.

Finally, we want to wish you all a wonderful Christmas. What we are all about to experience is precious time indeed. It warmed our hearts to hear from your children how much they were looking forward to spending time with family. Your children's sweet thoughts are yet another reason we are so grateful to be a part of their lives. Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!
