Parent Information

Parents, please read through the routines below for some general classroom information. Should you have questions, feel free to email us at cdufresne@tescharlotte.org or mkmcalister@tescharlotte.org -- thank you!

Room Parents --

Service Learning Parent --

Communication -- We will communicate with you primarily through blogging and email. Be sure to sign up for the blog using your primary email account, as to ensure you are notified upon new postings. We will post bimonthly and plan to include pictures of exciting happenings in Second Grade! The sign up tab can be found on the bottom right hand side of the blog.

Homework and Agenda -- Nightly homework will be sent home in your child's communication folder. We expect this folder to be signed and returned each morning. Occasionally, you will find additional parent information within this folder so please check the contents each evening. Should you need to send any papers/notes in to us or Trinity, you may do so within the communication folder. The homework page of this blog has more information regarding homework expectations.

Snack -- We will enjoy a snack together each morning. Please send your child to school with a healthy snack to enjoy for themselves. Water bottles are allowed in the classroom and will "live" in the back of the classroom as to keep away from spills!

ImaginOn -- We will walk to ImaginOn bimonthly to check out books. Each visit, your child will select one "just right book" and one "dessert book." While these may come home, please be sure they don't get lost on your bookshelves! We will announce upcoming ImaginOn visits via the blog and it will also be noted on your child's agenda.

Birthday Books -- We would love to celebrate your child's birthday! Trinity has a tradition of reading books in celebration, so please contact us prior to birthdays in order to schedule a time to come and read aloud. You and your child may pick a favorite book to share with the class and we look forward to continuing this tradition. Should your child have a summer birthday, we welcome you to pick an alternate date to come in and read.

Field Trips and Service Learning -- We will enjoy several field trips this year and hope to have you tag along. Volunteer needs will be posted via the blog. We have a new service learning partner in InReach -- a nonprofit organization providing support to individuals in the Charlotte community with intellectual and developmental disorders. We are thrilled to launch this new partnership! For more information please see their website (InReach). We will enjoy several field trips this year, so stay tuned throughout the year for volunteer opportunities as we will need drivers and extra hands on deck! We will visit Reedy Creek, the Concord Mills Aquarium, Daniel Stow Botanical Gardens, and of course, no year is complete without a few trips to Discovery Place and the Children's Theatre. We look forward to these exciting trips together!
